It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Elizabeth Johnson, age 78, who died on January 8, 2025 in her home. To know Margaret was to gain a friend for life — the kind who showed up without being asked and stayed long after others had gone.

Born on March 15, 1946 in Springfield, Illinois, Margaret made Portland, Oregon home and filled it with warmth, laughter, and an open door. Professionally, Margaret served as a elementary school teacher, bringing loving, kind, and generous to every task and every relationship.

Friendships were Margaret's true calling. Whether sharing a passion for gardening, reading, and baking or simply being present during life's harder moments, Margaret understood that showing up is the most important thing a person can do.

Margaret is survived by her husband Robert, daughter Sarah (Tom), son David (Emily), and four grandchildren and was preceded in death by her parents James and Mary Williams.

A memorial gathering will take place A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 15 at 2:00 PM at Grace Community Church.. We invite all whose lives were brightened by Margaret's friendship to come together and remember a truly remarkable person.
