Our family's greatest storyteller, fiercest protector, and gentlest heart has gone to rest. Margaret Elizabeth Johnson, age 78, passed away on January 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy that will echo through generations.
Born on March 15, 1946 in Springfield, Illinois, Margaret built a life rich in love and experience. The early years were shaped by hard work as a elementary school teacher and by the values instilled by family and community. Over time, Margaret became the person we all turned to — for wisdom, for comfort, for the kind of love that expects nothing and gives everything.
Margaret was undeniably loving, kind, and generous. These were not just words we use now in remembrance; they were qualities visible every single day, in every interaction, in every quiet act of kindness.
The hobbies that filled leisure hours — gardening, reading, and baking — were more than pastimes. They were invitations. Grandchildren gathered around to learn, to listen, and to simply be near someone whose presence felt like home.
Margaret is survived by her husband Robert, daughter Sarah (Tom), son David (Emily), and four grandchildren. Preceding in death were her parents James and Mary Williams.
Services will be held A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 15 at 2:00 PM at Grace Community Church.. We do not say goodbye — we say thank you, for a lifetime of love that we carry with us always.
