With profound sorrow, we share that Margaret Elizabeth Johnson, age 78, of Portland, Oregon, passed away on January 8, 2025. A sibling is the one person who knows your whole story from the very beginning, and losing Margaret has left a silence that nothing can fill.

Born on March 15, 1946 in Springfield, Illinois, Margaret grew up surrounded by family and carried that sense of belonging into every chapter of life. As a elementary school teacher, Margaret was committed and capable, but it was in personal relationships where that true spirit emerged — loving, kind, and generous in ways that made everyone feel seen and valued.

Margaret loved gardening, reading, and baking and approached each one with infectious enthusiasm that often drew the rest of us along for the ride.

Margaret is survived by her husband Robert, daughter Sarah (Tom), son David (Emily), and four grandchildren and was preceded in death by her parents James and Mary Williams.

A memorial service will be held A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 15 at 2:00 PM at Grace Community Church.. We hold on to the memories, the inside jokes, and the knowledge that being family with Margaret was one of life's greatest gifts.
