Margaret Elizabeth Johnson, 78, of Portland, Oregon, died on January 8, 2025, and the world is a quieter, less interesting place because of it.

Born on March 15, 1946 in Springfield, Illinois, Margaret never did anything halfway. Whether it was a career as a elementary school teacher, a weekend spent pursuing gardening, reading, and baking, or an argument about something completely trivial, Margaret brought full intensity and full heart. That was the deal — you got all of Margaret, or you got none.

People described Margaret as loving, kind, and generous, and every one of those descriptions was earned. Living in Portland, Oregon, Margaret built a life that was authentic, connected, and unapologetically original.

Survivors include her husband Robert, daughter Sarah (Tom), son David (Emily), and four grandchildren. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents James and Mary Williams.

A celebration of life will be held A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 15 at 2:00 PM at Grace Community Church.. If you're coming, bring a story. The funnier, the better.
